Thirty three year old Paul Lingerman has been playing guitar for over 20 years and has a bachelors degree from the University Of The Arts in Philadelphia Pa. Although his degree is in jazz he is also well versed in other styles such as; rock/classic rock, funk, metal, shred, progressive rock/metal, fusion and classical, All of these influences give Paul's original music a unique and eclectic sound. One of his solo albums is named after a word he invented "Heavyfunkjazz" which is a fusion of hard rock, jazz, and funk. While some of the songs have serious and meaningful lyrical content, some of the other song lyrics tend to be on the silly side similar to something that Frank Zappa may have done.
Paul has three solo albums in which he plays all of the instruments and sings, they're called "Welcome To My Mind", (experimental jazz) "Heavyfunkjazz", (jazz metal funk fusion) and "Paul Lingerman Acoustic". These cd's have gotten some acclaim and radio play around the world via mp3.com and word of mouth. Several of his songs were placed on over 70 mp3.com stations! Some of Paul's music has also been included on independant films and compilation cd's such as Ninja Paparazzi by Jae Chon, KAM music cd, and his former band Metox was featured on Chain Reaction 2 and 3.
Paul has also been in several bands since 1992 that have done very well selling thousands of cd's locally and getting some airplay worldwide. Paul has literally played thousands of gigs in venues ranging from small art galleries to the Trocadero and Electric Factory in Philly and The Wave and the China Club in NY opening for artists such as Dee Snider's Widowmaker, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tommy Conwell and Michelle Branch. As of today Paul is busy marketing his CD's, playing in an acoustic guitar duo called Green And Black, putting together a new band to play his rock/funk/jazz originals and teaching his 70 guitar students a week. Music is with him and within him continuously and his journey has just begun! |
